! !  IMPORTANT - PLEASE  READ  CAREFULLY  ! !

If you are paying on your property with a mortgage, your taxes might be escrowed.  The Sheriff’s Office ONLY sends your tax bill to the property owner.  We cannot send it to your mortgage company.  Please check with your mortgage company before sending your payment to the Sheriff. Many times mortgage companies know that the taxes are due and they will request the bill directly from the Sheriff’s Office and pay it without you knowing it.  Other mortgage companies may require you to mail or FAX them your bill.  If you so desire, you can use the below on-line lookup tool to check your bill.  The status will not show whether the bill is paid or not.

ASSESSMENTS, ADDRESSES & HOMESTEAD EXEMPTIONS

The Property Valuation Administrator (PVA) is responsible for the assessment of your property, the address of your property, the mailing address and name changes on your tax bill and exemptions.  The Sheriff’s role is ONLY to collect the tax.

For additional information see: https://brackencountykytax.com/#/

Questions regarding the assessed value of your property should be addressed to the PVA Office in the County Court House, 116 West Miami Street, Brooksville, KY or call (606) 735-2228.  Please make any inquires before making a payment.

  1. If your property address or mailing address on the tax bill is incorrect, you can make corrections on the return stub of your tax bill.  The information will be forwarded to the PVA Office or you can call the PVA Office at (606) 735-2228.

  2. Homestead or disability exemptions: If you are 65 years of age during the current year OR you are permanently disabled and no exemption appears on your tax bill, please contact the PVA Office at (606) 735-2228 BEFORE paying your tax bill.
